Wushu Champion Riju Raj Accorded Hero’s Welcome

Riju Raj Patra was given a warm welcome at Apeejay Tea’s Hokonguri Tea Estate on his homecoming.

“We are very glad and proud of Riju Raj’s achievement. He is a talented boy and has been pursuing his love for Kung-Fu for many years,” says Sudesh K Singh, Manager of Hokonguri Tea Estate.

Singh further appreciates his parents for supporting young Riju Raj.

“I am also happy that his parents are supporting him and encouraging him to follow his passion,” says Singh.

“We should recognise and help such talents for them to reach great heights. I hope to see more of our young ones shine like Riju Raj Patra,” Singh adds.

The Event

The 2nd Asia Kung Fu Wushu Championship was jointly organised by Kung-Fu-Wushu Association, Bangladesh and Bangladesh Martial Arts Confederation (BMACF) at the National Sports Council Stadium, Dhaka.

There were two categories- under 14 & 17year and above 19 years.

Both boys and girls participated in the event.

National Sports Council & Ministry of Youth & Sports, Bangladesh and Bangladesh Olympic Association recognizes the event.

Riju Raj Patra contested in the 31 to 35-kilogram weight category in the event Fight for Defence.

Final Words

Young Riju Raj so far has participated in various district level competitions, winning several medals and certificates.

His father Sushil Patra works at Apeejay Tea’s Hokonguri Tea Estate.

Riju Raj’s dedication and love for the sport was appreciated by the employees of the Apeejay Tea’s Kolkata Head Office and Hokonguri Tea Estate.

They came forward with donations so that he can take part in the prestigious competition in Dhaka.

The little champion has now set eyes on his future targets.

“I shall try and give my best in the future and win more medals for the country,” he said
