Ratnakar Mints Rs 90 Lakh In Two Days

Ratnakar To Hit Theatres On Friday

Assamese movie Ratnakar minted around Rs 90.5 lakh in the first two days of its release on Friday, October 11.

The film collected Rs 41 lakh on its opening day and its box office collection rose to Rs 49.5 lakh on the second day.

The movie stars Jatin Bora, Nishita Goswami, and Barsha Rani Bishaya in the lead roles.

Its first-day box office collection exceeded Zubeen Garg’s Kanchanjangha, which minted Rs 38.5 lakh on the first day.

Apart from being released across Assam, Ratnakar is also released in New Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, Vashi and Hyderabad.

The film will also be released in Kolkata and Chennai later this week.

The movie also stars Bishnu Kharghoriya, Chetana Das, Sanjeev Hazarika, and Hiranya Deka among others in pivotal roles.

At a time when the ‘Assamese film industry’ has been going through a dull phase for years, Kanchanjangha and Ratnakar have given rise to new hopes.

“I loved Ratnakar. It is a good entertainer,” said Sekhar Saikia, a resident of Guwahati, while sharing his views with The Story Mug.

“Many people have said that the story has been copied from a hit Tamil movie. I have not watched the movie so I can’t say if it is copied,” he added.

“And even if it is copied, then why do I have to care. I went to watch an entertaining movie and I was entertained,” Saikia further said.

“I am happy that people have accepted both Ratnakar and Kanchanjangha“, said Rajiv Goswami, a budding film critic.

“We should make such movies so that audience comes running to the theatres,” Goswami added.

Songs of the movie have already struck a chord with the audience and two of its videos have earned over 5 million views each on YouTube.

This is Jatin Bora’s second directorial venture after Adhinayak, and it was promoted on a large scale across the state.
