Coca-Cola To Launch Sustainable Paper Bottles
Coca-Cola was ranked the world’s number one plastic polluter by charity group ‘Break Free from Plastic’ in its annual survey last year, closely followed by Pepsi and Nestle
After a huge uproar on Twitter regarding the menace and pollution caused by the plastic bottles and caps, which are found across beaches, oceans and streets, soft drink giant Coca-Cola is now set to introduce sustainable paper bottles as part of a longer-term attempt to eliminate plastic from its packaging entirely.
Coca-Cola was ranked the world’s number one plastic polluter by charity group ‘Break Free from Plastic’ in its annual survey last year, closely followed by Pepsi and Nestle.
The popular soft drink recently announced that they are testing new paper bottles that are environmentally friendly and sustainable.

While the bottle is not entirely made of paper, there will still be a thin lining of plastic underneath the porous paper that would prevent the paper from soaking up the carbonated drink, but the company confirms that the bottle prototype is 100 per cent recyclable.
While these bottles may pose a risk of altering the taste of the drink or potentially falling foul of health and safety checks, industry giants are backing the plan, reports the BBC.
Coca-Cola will run its first test with the innovative bottles in Hungary, before rolling them out in other countries. Coca-Cola has set a goal of producing zero waste by the year 2030.
“We’re continuing to deliver sustainable packaging solutions around the world. Our paper bottle prototype in Europe is an exciting example of innovation and partnership as we work toward our World Without Waste Goals,” reported NDTV, quoting a company’s tweet.
