Seven players from Bajali- 6 girls and 1 boy- are selected to the Assam Rugby Team for the National Rugby Championship 2021.

The players were selected based on their performances at the 5-day rugby training camp held at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati from November 24, 2021, to November 28, 2021.

The Junior National Rugby Championship will take place at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar.

The selected players are Jesmina Begum, Riya Talukdar, Gitanjali Roy, Sumi Kakati, Sikha Das,

Garima Roy and Dhanmani Kakati

The players are presently training under Bajali Rugby Association’s (BRA) general secretary Khanin Roy.

Bajali Rugby Association was formed in February 2021. Since its inception, the organisation has taken commendable steps to spread the game throughout the district and popularise it among young boys and girls.

The association is the first in Assam to organise rugby camps for young boys and girls.

The sport, however, still has a long way to go as far as better infrastructure and facilities are concerned.
