A 19-year-old woman has been arrested in Ghaziabad after her newborn daughter’s body was found on a neighbour’s terrace.
The baby was discovered early on December 12, 2025, Friday, morning in Rakesh Marg. The mother initially claimed the child was stillborn, but a post-mortem examination revealed the infant had died from multiple injuries and had been alive at birth - contradicting her claim.
Police say the woman delivered the child at home around 6 am and, in a state of panic, attempted to dispose of the newborn by throwing her from the roof.
Instead of landing in an empty space, the baby fell on the terrace of a neighbouring building.
An FIR has been registered under Section 91 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which covers acts intended to prevent a child being born alive or causing its death after birth.
Authorities say there is no evidence implicating the woman’s sister or husband in the incident at present. The investigation is ongoing.
