Married Man And Woman Found Dead Near Canal In Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao
A man and a woman were found dead near a canal in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, police said on June 2, 2026 (Tuesday), as investigators began probing the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The bodies were discovered by villagers near the Sharda Canal in Rasidpur village under the Purwa Kotwali police station area on June 1, 2026 (Monday) night, the media reported.
Police identified the deceased as Anil Kumar Shukla (57), a resident of Turi Chhavinath village, and Soni (32), who lived in Niddakhera village. Shukla reportedly ran a private clinic in the area.
According to local residents, Shukla and Soni had entered into a love marriage around three months ago despite Shukla already being married and having two daughters.
The couple had reportedly been living in rented accommodation in Unnao city.
Police said they are examining all possible angles, including suicide and accidental death.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
