At Laokhowa Burhachapori Wildlife Sanctuary- a buffer of Kaziranga Tiger Reserve- successful breeding of tigers was camera trapped for the first time in 15 years.

The news comes a breath of fresh air amid the heartbreaking news of destruction caused by flood across Assam including Kaziranga.

Heavy rain and flood have caused severe damage to the Kaziranga National Park, with 92 per cent of its area being submerged in waters that has killed 123 animals, including 12 rhinos.

A few days ago, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton expressed concern and distress over the devastation in the Kaziranga National Park.

In a letter to the Park's Director P Sivakumar, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said they were heartbroken to hear about the appalling devastation to the Kaziranga National Park and its wildlife caused by very heavy monsoon flooding.

Amid such a gloomy situation, the successful breeding of tigers has brought some smile on the faces of the officials of the park, who have been working relentlessly for protecting the flood-hit animals.

The news was about the breeding was shared by the official twitter handle of the park.

The photo of the tigress, which was camera trapped, was also shared in the tweet.

On being requested by a user to upload some pictures, the park responded affirmatively and said they would be uploading it soon.

"We are waiting for approval from our Director. Very soon, it will be uploaded. Thank you," the tweet said.

While flood is an annual occurrence in Assam, this year's large-scale inundation has taken place due to breaches in the network of embankments along the Brahmaputra and its tributaries.
