February 26, 2025

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a distinctive gift—a one-horned rhinoceros crafted from semiconductor chips—during the inaugural session of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit on February 25, 2025, in Guwahati.

In addition to the unique rhino, CM Sarma also gifted PM Modi a traditional gamosa and a replica of the Kamakhya Temple, an important centre of Shakti worship.

"A unique gift from the people of Assam to welcome Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji. A rhino made from semiconductor chips!" the Chief Minister shared on X.

On the same day, the Assam government signed an agreement with the Tata Group to establish a semiconductor plant in the state, valued at Rs 27,000 crore.

PM Modi was in Guwahati for a two-day visit, during which he witnessed a performance of Jhumoir Binandini by nearly 9,000 artistes from the tea tribe community on Monday.

As part of the welcome, he was also presented with the community’s traditional bow and arrow, along with a bag filled with organic tea.

After inaugurating the summit, PM Modi departed for Delhi.
