Baghjan Gas Leak Comes Alive In 'Inside The Burning'

The infamous Baghjan gas leak on May 27, 2020, rocked India- a notion that was already battling against the COVID-19 pandemic and a nationwide lockdown.

Apart from damaging the economy, the Baghjan gas leak ravaged the ecology, killed several endangered wild animals and the damaged environment beyond repair apart from claiming three lives.

And since the tragedy struck, people across the globe have been wanting to know as to what led to one of the deadliest gas leaks of modern times.

Well, the wait is over as Discovery India on March 13 launched a two-part documentary on the tragic Baghjan gas leak and highlighting several known and unknown issues associated with it.

Telling stories that matter of events that will shape, influence and course-correct actions of the future, Discovery, India’s first and leading aggregated real-life entertainment network brings its audiences yet another compelling docuseries ‘Inside the Burning’.

Titled Inside The Burning, the documentary narrates the story of an unbelievable catastrophe from the lens of the men and women who were on the frontlines of the incident.

The two-part documentary also showcases the stories of the brave firefighters, engineers and technicians who worked round the clock, putting their lives on the line to curb certain irreparable damage and highlights OIL’s (Oil India Limited) crucial role in the rescue operations.

Using graphical illustrations to simulate the inner working of Well No. 05, the documentary gives audiences an x-ray view into the technical conditions that led to the Baghjan gas leak and the consequential explosion on June 9, 2020.

The film addresses the discovery of these oil fields, the role it played in India's advancement and the importance it holds in being the lifeline of our country.

It follows the OIL team’s evacuation operations, made with the support from the police, district administration, Indian Army, Airforce and how with the help of government as well as international experts, the ONGC-OIL team and other service providers put together a plan to try and contain the leak.
