In various operations, troops of Border Security Force (BSF) under Guwahati Frontier apprehended a cattle smuggler of Indian origin and recovered 201 cattle heads from his possession.
The recovery was made from Coochbehar (West Bengal), Dhubri & South Salamara (Assam) on intervening night of September 8 and September 9.

"Acting on a tip-off, on the intervening night of September 8 and September 9, troops of BSF BOP Hatichar of 41 Bn under Guwahati Frontier carried out a special operation in general area 60-Bigha village in South Salamara district under Sukhchar Police Station and apprehended an Indian cattle smuggler along with 10 cattle heads," an official BSF statement said.
"The cattle heads were on its way to Bangladesh when the arrest was made," the statement added.
The apprehended cattle smuggler has been identified as Sajjan Sheikh (30)- a resident of Devnaralga area in South Salmara district.

The smuggler along with the recovered cattle heads have been handed over to Sukchar police for further legal action.
Moreover, Seema Prahari of BSF has also rescued 191 cattle heads in various other operations carried out in Coochbehar, Dhubri and South Salmara.
