Two people were killed and 16 others injured in a multi-vehicle collision in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district on December 23, 2025, Tuesday, morning after dense fog severely reduced visibility, police said.
The accident occurred near an under-bridge in the Musafirkhana police station area, close to the Amethi–Sultanpur turn. Officials said thick fog in the area led to poor visibility, contributing to the crash.
According to the police, a truck first hit a roadside railing and came to a halt on the road. Vehicles travelling behind it, including three trucks, a car and a bus, subsequently rammed into one another, resulting in a pile-up.
Two people were declared dead at the spot, while 16 others sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Rescue teams were rushed to the site to clear the wreckage and assist the injured.
Police said efforts were under way to identify the deceased and investigate the sequence of events leading to the collision. Traffic on the stretch was affected for several hours before normal movement was restored.
