Kevadia town in the Narmada district of Gujarat, which is famous for the world's largest statue- the Statue of Unity and the Sardar Sarovar Dam, is also home to a state-of-art zoological park which is touted as the world’s fastest made 'jungle safari'.

The park has a remarkable collection of exotic birds and animals, which have been brought in from various corners of the world.

The wide range of animals in the list will soon have a new member joining them and the new animal is a 15-month-old hippopotamus named Bhim.

The news was broken by the Gujarat Additional Chief Secretary (Forest & Environment department) Dr Rajiv Kumar Gupta.

Gupta, who is also the MD of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNL), tweeting some photographs of the hippopotamus wrote, "Bhim’’-A young Hippopotamus getting ready to join world’s fastest ever made Jungle Safari near #statueofunity, Get ready to meet 15 months old, 250 kgs heavy newcomer in a few days. Come & visit Kevadia, a wonderful gift that Hon @PMOIndia has given to the nation."

It may be mentioned here that the new jungle safari is spread over 375 acres of land and has seven different levels.

The safari is located on the right bank of the Narmada at an altitude or elevation of 29 metres to 180 metres.

Currently, there are over 186 species of animals in the zoological park that have been brought in from Africa, Australia, America and the Asiatic regions.

The list of animals includes the Asiatic Lions, the Royal Bengal Tigers and leopards among others.

The zoological park is expected to draw a lot of visitors to Gujarat- not just from India but also from abroad.
