Hospital On Wheels Rolls Into Ramban, Over 130 Patients Served

August 18, 2025

In the quiet hills of Ramban, where healthcare often feels like a distant luxury, a bus converted into a travelling hospital pulled into the remote village of Gundi Dharam o August 17, 2025, Sunday.

For many villagers, it was not just a vehicle but a lifeline—bringing doctors, medicines, diagnostics and health awareness straight to their doorstep.

This is the essence of the “Hospital on Wheels” initiative, launched under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, which aims to bridge the healthcare gap in the most inaccessible corners of the district.

The mobile medical camp organised at Gundi Dharam under Medical Block Gool became a beacon of relief for dozens of families who otherwise struggle to access basic medical facilities.

Comprehensive Care At The Doorstep

A dedicated team of doctors and paramedics attended to over 130 patients, including 120 in General OPD and 16 in Dental consultations.

Villagers availed blood sugar monitoring, anaemia and malaria testing, alongside screenings for non-communicable diseases and tuberculosis under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).

Driving Digital Health Inclusion

In keeping with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), the camp also created 40 ABHA IDs, opening up digital health records for villagers and connecting them to India’s growing e-health infrastructure.

Awareness Beyond Treatment

Beyond check-ups and prescriptions, the outreach also raised awareness about crucial government health schemes like JK SEHAT, PMJAY, NTEP, E-Sanjeevani, and ABDM. Residents were advised to embrace healthier lifestyles, underscoring prevention as the first step to good health.

A Sustained Commitment

Organised under the supervision of the District Health Society, Ramban, the “Hospital on Wheels” initiative is not a one-off drive.

Such medical camps will continue in remote areas across the district, ensuring that healthcare is not a privilege but a right accessible to every citizen—no matter how far they live from a hospital.
