Manipur is set to witness a historic moment with the introduction of its first-ever ropeway at Marjing Hill.
Former Chief Minister N Biren Singh recently shared the news on his social media, announcing the commencement of trial runs for the much-anticipated project.
This ropeway will link the Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex to the foothill, promising to transform tourism, accessibility, and cultural heritage in the state.
A Step Forward For Tourism
Marjing Hill, known for its religious and historical significance, is home to the revered Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex, which honours the deity Ibudhou Marjing, believed to be the protector of horses.
The site is also closely associated with Manipur’s claim as the birthplace of modern polo.
The new ropeway is expected to enhance the visitor experience by providing a scenic and convenient route to the hilltop, thereby attracting more tourists.
Boosting Connectivity And Accessibility
The ropeway will not only offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape but also make it easier for people of all age groups to reach the revered site.
This is particularly significant for elderly visitors and those with mobility challenges, ensuring that they, too, can partake in the spiritual and cultural essence of Marjing Hill.
Economic And Cultural Impact
With improved accessibility, the region is likely to see a rise in tourist footfall, benefiting local businesses, including transport, hospitality, and handicrafts.
Additionally, the project highlights Manipur’s commitment to preserving its heritage while embracing modern infrastructure.
The ropeway’s operation will further reinforce the state’s reputation as a cultural and adventure tourism hub in Northeast India.
Looking Ahead
As trial runs continue, expectations are high for the ropeway’s official launch. If successful, this initiative could pave the way for similar projects in other tourist hotspots across Manipur, further strengthening the state’s tourism industry.
The Marjing Hill ropeway marks a new chapter in Manipur’s development, blending tradition with progress.
Tourists, pilgrims, and adventure seekers alike can soon look forward to an exciting aerial journey that showcases the beauty and heritage of this culturally rich state.
