NorthEast United FC (NEUFC), ahead of the news season of the Indian Super League (ISL), has roped in a number of new players.

The team looks fresh and all set to begin life under a young and exciting Spanish head coach Gerard Nus.

Among the ones who seem to be all geared for the new season is 23-year-old defender Rakesh Pradhan.

Pradhan firmly believes that Gerad Nus is fully-equipped to deal with the challenges ahead.

"There are a new energy and a positive attitude around the team," The News Mill quoted the defender as saying.

"Head coach Nus is someone I have enjoyed working with from day one. He has the right vision for the team and …the gaffer is building a healthy atmosphere within the team and I am hopeful that people will start seeing the results too, once the season begins," Pradhan added.

It may be mentioned here that the Spaniard, with an aim to tighten the defence, has signed a number of experienced foreigners like Benjamin Lambot and Dylan Fox along with a number of Indian personnel who have prior experience of playing in the Hero ISL.

Pradhan is confident that the new defensive additions to NEUFC will do well in the upcoming tournament which gets underway in Goa on November 20.

Pradhan is hopeful that with this new range of players, NEUFC will perform better as an outfit.

"We have quite a few new faces in the team, and they are bringing a lot of experience with them, which will help us in the long run. It will also bring healthy competition …I believe we will be much stronger defensively and I am really looking forward to rubbing shoulders with them for the team," he said.

NEUFC had just two wins in 18 games last year and finished 9th on the points table.

This time they kick off their campaign against Mumbai City FC on November 21 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco.
