Three Earthquakes In 30 Minutes Jolt Jaipur

In addition to the Jaipur quakes, the NCS reported an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6, striking 61 kilometres East of Mizoram's Ngopa in the early hours of July 20, 2023. That earthquake occurred at a depth of 80 kilometres.

In the early hours of July 21, 2023, Jaipur experienced a series of three consecutive earthquakes within just 30 minutes.

The initial quake, measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale, struck at approximately 4:10 a.m., causing residents to hastily evacuate their homes.

The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported that the first earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.4, hit Jaipur at 4:10 am, and it was followed by two more quakes measuring 3.1 and 3.4 on the Richter scale, respectively.

The second quake, registering a magnitude of 3.1, occurred at 4:22 am, and the third one, measuring 3.4 in magnitude, struck at 4:25 am.

"Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.4, Occurred on July 21, 2023, 04:09:38 IST, Lat: 26.88, Long: 75.70, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan, India," the NCS provided further details through a tweet.

According to the NCS, the earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometres. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or damages at this time.

As the first earthquake hit Jaipur, residents felt the strong tremors and promptly came out of their houses.

"The tremors were strong, and my whole family woke up. The tremors continued for a little while. It happened around ten past four in the morning. There are no injuries, though," Vikas, a local resident, said to the media.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, took to Twitter to express her concern.

"Earthquake tremors have been felt at other places in the state, including Jaipur. I hope you all are safe!" she said.
