Video Of Man Riding Into Assam From Bangladesh Is Misleading: BSF

August 26, 2024

The Border Security Force or the BSF has issued a clarification on a recent video that has gone viral on social media, raising concerns in India- especially in the northeast.

The video purportedly shows a man riding a two-wheeler into the Indian territory from Bangladesh.

"I am riding my motorcycle from Bangladesh and I am going to enter Assam," the rider can be heard saying in the video.

He crosses a milestone and then says, "Now, I am inside Assam border and to my back is Bangladesh border. It is this easy to cross over to Assam in India from Bangladesh."

Popular news media outlet Voice Of Assam shared the video on its X handle, stating, "This is how easily these Miya Bangladeshis enters into Assam & teaches others to do so. This video is uploaded by a Bangladeshi Facebook Page named “Independent Bangladesh” on 12th August."

The BSF, however, clearing the air over the video called it to be fake and misleading.

"The video is misleading and intentionally made by some Bangladeshi national to create sensation. Indo-Bangladesh border is very complex with habitation upto zero line," the BSF said.

"BSF maintains it's domination line about 150 yards from international border. In this area shown in the video, ahead of fence, Indian village does not exist but Bangladesh villages do exist along the international border," the BSF added.

It may be mentioned here that concerns have been raised in India, especially in the Indo-Bangladesh border areas in the Northeast and West Bengal, following the political turmoil in Bangladesh after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign and flee to India.

There have been numerous reports of attacks on Hindus in the neighbouring country, following which the Hindus have been forced to flee to India.
