Peerless Hospital has launched a new 250-bed super-speciality facility in Guwahati, aiming to plug a major gap in advanced medical care in Assam and the Northeast.

The hospital was inaugurated on Monday by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Ahom Gaon, near ISBT on July 21, 2025, Monday.

The Kolkata-based hospital group, known for its 32-year presence in Eastern India, is entering Assam at a time when a large number of patients from the region continue to travel to metro cities for treatment in cardiology, oncology, neurology, and trauma care.

The new facility is expected to offer advanced diagnostics, critical care, and integrated super-speciality services under one roof.

Peerless Hospital will start operations with 100 beds and plans to scale up to 300 by 2026.

“This hospital is aimed at reducing the physical and financial burden on patients who currently travel long distances for treatment,” said Jayanta Roy, Managing Director of Peerless General Finance and Investment Company Ltd.

Health experts say that while Assam has seen improvements in public healthcare, access to tertiary services remains patchy outside of Guwahati.

The new private facility is expected to cater not only to patients from Assam but also from neighbouring states and North Bengal, along with international patients from Bangladesh.

Chief Minister Sarma, who attended the launch event, said Assam is emerging as a regional healthcare hub and welcomed Peerless’s entry into the state.

The hospital group says it will focus on patient-first care and strengthen its presence through specialised services and local clinical partnerships.
