Assam Government Felicitates Apeejay Tea Doctors

Two senior doctors of Apeejay Tea were awarded by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Dr Venoy Phukan and Dr Showrav Kumar Phukon- were felicitated on Tuesday (September 24) at the launch event of Free Drugs Scheme in Guwahati.

The government felicitated 10 others from across Assam along with them for their long service in tea gardens.

Dr Venoy Phukan is working a senior medical officer at Longsowal Central Hospital in Tinsukia.

Dr Showrov Kumar Phukon is the Assistant Principal Medical Officer at Dhulapadung Tea Estate Hospital in Sonitpur.

"I am proud not only for myself but for the company too for receiving this award," said Dr Venoy.

"I am also proud of the relationship I share with the workers who have complete trust in me and want me to continue serving them," he added.

He began his career at Pengaree TE of Apeejay Tea and have been serving at Longsowal Central Hospital since 1974

"I am happy and proud of receiving recognition for my work," said Dr Showrov Kumar Phukon.

"In 30 years, this is the first time I have received such an award," he added.

Dr Showrov began his career at Muttrapore TE of Apeejay Tea.

He has been working at Dhulapadung Tea Estate Hospital for the past 15 years.

"We organise various health camps from time to time for the workers," he said.

"We also conduct various activities under Mothers’ Club and Adolescents club in the estates," he further said.
