5 Family Members With Pet Dog Killed In Accident

Five members of a family, along with their pet dog, were killed in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district in the early hours of Saturday, police said.

The incident occurred around 3:00 am on Saturday (April 25, 2026) on the Barsatpur–Ahirani Highway, within the jurisdiction of the Dohrighat police station.

According to media reports, a Scorpio sport utility vehicle (SUV) travelling towards Mau lost control, crossed into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with an oncoming trailer truck.

The impact of the collision was severe, killing all five occupants of the vehicle on the spot. The family’s pet dog, which was also inside the SUV, died in the crash.

Quoting police officials, the media reported that the victims were returning from a wedding ceremony when the accident occurred.

“Preliminary information suggests that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle, possibly after veering out of the lane,” the media reported, quoting police.

Residents gathered at the site soon after the crash, and police teams arrived shortly thereafter to begin rescue and recovery operations.

The bodies were later sent for post-mortem examination at a district hospital.

Authorities have identified the deceased and initiated further investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The incident has left the local community in shock, with reports indicating that the victims belonged to the same family and were on their way home when the crash occurred.

Police said a case has been registered and further enquiries are underway.
