‘I Haven’t Left Out A Single Detail’: Ravi Sarma Continues Testimony In Zubeen Garg Death Case
Popular Assamese actor Ravi Sarma on Monday (June 22, 2026) said he would continue appearing before the court for as long as required, as he testified in the ongoing trial related to the death of Zubeen Garg, describing the process as exhaustive but necessary in the pursuit of justice.
Speaking to the media after completing his third consecutive day of testimony before a Fast Track Court, Sarma said his deposition was still unfinished and that he would return the following day to continue answering questions.
“I have already spent three days giving my testimony, and it is still continuing. I will come back tomorrow as well. I have not omitted anything simply because a lot of time has passed. I am explaining every detail, point by point,” Sarma said outside the courtroom.
The actor, who had a friendship with Garg spanning more than three decades, said legal restrictions prevented him from revealing details of the proceedings.
“I cannot tell the public anything new at this stage. Legally, we cannot disclose details until the examination process is completed. That is why I am unable to discuss the specifics,” he said.
Cancelling Shoot Schedules To Attend Court
Sarma revealed that the lengthy court proceedings have coincided with his professional commitments, forcing him to rearrange his work schedule.
“My shooting assignments are currently underway, but I have to spend the entire day in court as well. I have cancelled tomorrow’s shooting schedule and will return to court. The list of questions being asked is quite long. I do not mind how long it takes, but I hope the process is conducted thoroughly and fairly. I am extending my full cooperation,” he said.
The actor said he was willing to put his work commitments on hold if needed, stressing that cooperating with the court was more important at this stage.
Emotional Toll Of Viewing Evidence
The actor also disclosed that several video recordings had been presented before the court during the proceedings and that he had been asked to offer his observations on the material.
“Some videos were shown to us in court. I watched them and shared whatever observations I had regarding those recordings. But as a friend, watching those videos was emotionally difficult. It caused me pain. However, the process must move forward. Emotions hold no value in the eyes of the law,” Sarma said.
His remarks reflected the emotional strain of revisiting painful memories involving a friend he had known for more than three decades.
Why The Testimony Is Taking So Long
Responding to questions about the unusually lengthy duration of his testimony, Sarma said the examination was being conducted carefully and without pressure to rush through answers.
“I cannot say why my testimony is taking so long. But I have not been hurried because of time constraints. I have answered every question according to how I experienced and understood the events. Whenever there was a personal aspect that needed to be explained, I explained it,” he said.
Sarma said his long association with Zubeen Garg often required detailed explanations and contextual clarifications.
“I knew Zubeen Garg personally for 33 years. There is a personal relationship. If something shown in a video did not match my understanding or recollection, I explained that in detail as well. Naturally, that takes time,” Sarma, who will next be seen in SUV’s Oii Police, said.
According to the actor, investigators and lawyers are examining a substantial volume of documentary evidence.
“There are more than 700 pages consisting of photographs and video-related material. Going through all of that takes time,” he said.
‘Even If It Takes 15 More Days, I Will Come’
Despite the demands on his time, Sarma made it clear that he views his participation in the proceedings as a responsibility rather than a burden.
“I do not see this as a personal loss. I will keep coming for as long as I am required. Even if I have to appear for another 10 or 15 days, I have no objection. This is something all of us should do when required,” he said firmly.
Despite his shooting commitments, Sarma said he has no hesitation in returning to court again and again, describing it as something he must do for a friend he had known for 33 years.
With his examination still incomplete after three days, Sarma is expected to return to the Fast Track Court again on Tuesday (June 23, 2026) as the proceedings continue.
