Moreover, the Ministry of Commerce and Industries has also lifted the ban on the export of non-medical/ non-surgical masks of all types.

A notification in this regard was issued on May 16.

The KVIC has developed double and triple-layered Khadi face masks to so as to meet the high demand for face masks in this crisis time.

These face masks are made up of both cotton and silk and available in two colours for men and in multiple colours for women.

The KVIC so far received orders to supply 8 lakh face masks and it has already supplied over 6 lakhs.

KVIC received orders from the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Prime Minister’s Office, Central government ministries, Jammu & Kashmir government and orders through email from the general public.

Apart from the sale, over 7.5 lakh Khadi face masks have been distributed to the District Authorities across the country.

Reportedly, the KVIC also plans to supply Khadi face masks in countries like Dubai, USA, and Mauritius among others.

KVIC plans to sell these face masks in these countries through the respective Indian embassies.

“Popularity and demand of Khadi fabric and other products have grown significantly across the globe," said KVIC Chairman VK Saxena.
