The August edition of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly radio programme, was not able to draw much positive response from the listeners.

Till the filing of this report, the episode on YouTube was watched by over 4 lakh viewers, however, it received over 39,000 dislikes compared to over 16,000 likes.

Moreover, the video also received negative comments mostly and most viewers lashing out at the Union government and its policies.

In the Mann Ki Baat episode on Sunday, the Prime Minister spoke about a number of things- from making India the new toy hub to creating new apps and technologies at par with Google and Facebook.

He also praised the Indian breed dogs and urged everyone to adopt one such dog and say no to exotic foreign breeds.

He also praised the doctors and the nurses and other healthcare workers involved in the fight against COVID-19 and also said about India's resolute stand against the infection.

However, the people, it seemed, were not in the mood to listen to these "on the surface things", which annoyed them to the extremum.

Lashing out his anger, a YouTuber who goes by the name of Sashank Singhal wrote, "Why don't you speak on unemployment? Why don't you speak on government jobs? Examinations are neither held on time nor are the results declared on time."

"We don't need this type of PM who doesn't want to do anything in favour of the students. We are unemployed and employment is not anywhere. No to Narendra Modi," commented another YouTuber named Badal Routh.

Another user, Ujjwal Kumar said, "Modi government has not fulfilled the dreams of youth, he is only an event manager."

This is for the first time the Mann Ki Baat has received such a backlash from the viewers.

Even though people had disliked the programme earlier as well, but never ever did the dislikes and negative comments exceeded the likes and the positive comments.

The YouTube reactions have found its way into Facebook and other social media sites as well and people have already begun sharing memes on it.

Many have even raised questions if the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Narendra Modi are losing their popularity among the youths and if this is the beginning of a digital rebellion against the Centre?

Some have even called it to be the handiwork of a group of "hackers", who are against the government and Narendra Modi and are trying to create a fake impression that Mann Ki Baat and PM Modi are losing relevance.

They are saying that these "dislikes are not real" and are false impressions.

"Mann Ki Baat and PM Modi can never lose their relevance. Some hackers have tried their best to create this image of high dislike. This is not true," said a BJP worker from Guwahati while speaking to The Story Mug.

"We will order a probe into it," he added.
