Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on March 3, 2022, inaugurated the Cardiac Care Center (CCC), a state-of-the-art health care facility with the latest offering in cardiac diagnostic and therapeutic services at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dimapur.
Mentioning the Indian Heart Disease scenario, where about 45 million people out of the estimated population of more than 1.27 billion suffer from coronary artery disease, Rio said that installation of CCC was a huge relief for the people of Nagaland as well as for the neighboring states.
Since 2005, after the Referral Hospital was handed over to CIHSR, it has grown by leaps and bounds in collaboration with CMC Vellore and EHA and the addition of CCC which is the need of the hour in our state is amazing, Rio maintained.
Expressing his appreciation and gratefulness to the CIHSR society for giving their best in providing quality health services, Rio advised them to also train the Government nurses and staff on how to take care of the patients and also for maintaining the hospitals.
The chief minister visited the infrastructures and facilities of all the departments and credited CIHSR as one of the best hospital health care units in the state if not in the region.
He observed that the dream of medical College at CIHSR was not far stating that it would provide immense medical benefits to our State.
"If CIHSR comes up with a medical College, it will be huge relieve for our state," Rio added.
Emphasising the need for creating a friendly environment in the hospital, Rio felt the need for more plantations, good roads with proper drainages, and the growing of hedges along the roads.
Towards this end, Rio assured for sending the R&B engineers to do the needful and also the Forest department for beautification through plantations.
While congratulating the CIHSR for reaching another milestone, Neiphiu Rio was optimistic that the Cardiac Care Center would immensely benefit the people of the state with heart-related problems.
Director CIHSR, Dr. Sedevi Angami observed that CIHSR which is being governed by the Government of Nagaland, CMC, and EHA, a unique PPP model has worked very well for 14 years and felt that such PPP model could bring huge changes, especially in the Health sector.
Upgradation of cancer care center (Advanced radiotherapy center), Center for disability (training, treatment, and support), Renal transplant, and Medical college were the plans ahead, Dr. Sedevi informed.
Cardiologist CIHSR, Dr Avitso Leigise, the head of the Cardiac Care Center, while explaining the logistics of the CCC machines, informed that the unit was one of the best equipped in the North East with Cath lab Angiogram and Angioplasty, Pacemaker Support, 2D and 4 D Echo, Transesophageal Echo ( TEE)- EPIQ 7C, Cardiac Stress Testing, 24 and 48 hours Holter Monitoring.
He further went on to say that the machines are the latest interventional machine and the best in the world offered by Philips, one of the leading companies in Cardiac Medical Imaging Technology.
The program was chaired by MS CIHSR, Dr Clement Momin while the concluding remark was given by Deputy Director, CIHSR, Dr. Viu Meru.
The inaugural program was also attended by Minister Metsubo, Kasheho Sangtam, Advisors Dr. Nicky, Tovihoto, and Retired Commissioner and Secretary Health, Menukhol John, presently Advisor CM, doctors, and nurses besides others.
