The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has welcomed the meeting between Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his Assam counterpart Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma to seek out a solution to the decades-old Assam-Arunachal boundary issue at Guwahati.

The union opines that the people living on the inter-state boundary need permanent peace and deserve a better quality of life. The elusive boundary issue has been a contentious and nightmare issue for interstate boundary dwellers, causing much heartburn and at times leading to large scale violence, putting a serious question mark on the peaceful coexistence of both the sister states, "the release added.
AAPSU has been raising the boundary issue for a long time, demanding a permanent solution and has on several occasions questioned the unilateral act by Assam officials.
The new development has caught the imagination of the masses and enhanced the hope of union.
On January 24, 2022, in a meeting between the CMs of both states in Guwahati, detailed discussions were held on the inter-state boundary issue.
Both CMs expressed their will to sincerely work towards a permanent solution to this long-pending issue.
In the meeting, it was decided to conduct a ground-level survey on the boundary status of the inter-state boundary as a step towards resolving the decades-old pending issue.
