Assam Actors Debuting In Bollywood With 'Bunker'

January 6, 2020

Arindita Kalita and Arnav Timsina from Assam will be seen in the silver screen as their debut Bollywood movie 'Bunker' releases on January 17, stated a press release.

"The movie will try to bring out the emotional quotient of an army soldier’s life and focuses on the lives of several Army officers serving the country," the release stated.

Arindita previously has acted in a number of ad films and she is no rookie when it comes to facing the camera.

"I was looking beyond ad films and was approached to play the lead in Bunker. When I heard the script, I knew in my heart this was a role I had to play," the release stated quoting her.

"The role of Swara Singh, the wife of Lt Vikram Singh allowed me to delve deeper into my character and play a range of emotions the character could have experienced,” she further said.

Arindita completed her Bachelors in Fashion and Apparel Designing from JD Institute in Delhi and also did her Bachelors in Sociology.

She also has a Visharad degree in Bharatnatyam and has over seven years of experience in the field of dance.

On the other hand, Arnav Timsina will be essaying the character of Sukhram in the movie.

A chance meeting with director Jugal Raja while travelling in a local train in Mumbai enabled Arnav to bag the role.

"The actor who was originally supposed to play Sukhram backed out," The Assam Tribune reported quoting the young actor.

"Jugal Raja, while scrolling the chats found my number and called me for a meeting late at night one day before shooting was supposed to start, and I was immediately selected for the role," Arnav added.

Sharing his views on choosing the two actors from Assam in his movie, director Jugal Raja said, "Choosing Arindita was an automatic choice, as I knew she was perfect for the role."

"I explained the role to her and she knew what she had to bring to make the character alive," he added.

"Arnav was a last-minute replacement in the film, but proved to be a blessing as he not only gave his 100 per cent but also played the part of Sukhram beautifully,” he said.

National award-winning singer Rekha Bhardwaj has lent her voice for a peace anthem Lautke Ghar Jaana Hai.

The trailer of the movie has created a buzz among the cine-goers and they have appreciated it immensely.
