President of Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Romen Dutta along with ACA secretary Devajit Saikia inaugurated a cricket academy of Tezpur District Cricket Association (TDCA) at Polo Ground in Tezpur on January 10, 2021.
ACA Vice-president Porikshit Dutta, treasurer Tridip Konwar, TDCA president Rup Kamal Kakoti, TDCA general secretary Surajit Bora, treasurer of Hockey India Tapan Das and vice president of Assam Olympic Association (AOA) Ritu Baran Sarmah and host of other cricket and sports enthusiasts attended the inauguration ceremony.
In his address, ACA president Romen Dutta shed light on the various cricket infrastructure development projects being undertaken by ACA across Assam for the development of the game.
ACA secretary Devajit Saikia highlighted the significance and importance of the Cricket Academy which was inaugurated.
He said that the academy would boost the sport in the district and help in the p[roper grooming of the upcoming cricketers.
He further informed that Tezpur has a rich history of producing quality cricket players of Assam.
"This new cricket academy will help many budding cricketers to hone their skills and leave a mark in the sport for Assam," Saikia reiterated.
Saikia also said that there was a need for uniformity in cricket coaching across the State and underscored the initiatives being taken up by ACA for the cause.
TDCA president Rup Kamal Kakoti, in his speech, lauded the ACA for its work that it has been carrying out in the state to develop cricket in the state.
