Bengaluru Live-in Partner Murder: Assam Man In Police Dragnet

July 1, 2025

In the Bengaluru live-in partner murder case, police have arrested a 33-year-old man from Assam for allegedly killing his partner and disposing of her body in a municipal garbage truck.

The accused, identified as Shamsuddin, was taken into custody within 20 hours following a swift investigation.

Body Found In Garbage Truck

In the early hours of June 30, 2025, Sunday, around 2?am, residents of Koramangala’s ST Bed Layout noticed a suspicious polythene sack inside a BBMP garbage truck.

Upon alerting the police, the authorities discovered a woman’s body stuffed inside the bag, her legs tied to her neck. A case of murder was immediately registered.

Victim Identified As Asha

The deceased was later identified as 40-year-old Asha, a widow who had adopted her late brother’s children. She had been living with Shamsuddin in Hulimavu for the past several months, posing as a married couple to their landlord.

The couple had moved into the rented accommodation four months ago.

Motive: Domestic Dispute Turned Deadly

According to investigators, the murder stemmed from a domestic dispute that turned violent. Shamsuddin, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, argued with Asha late on Saturday night over her alleged drinking habits and late-night phone calls.

In a fit of rage, he strangled her to death inside their home.

Following the crime, he wrapped her body in a sack and transported it nearly 20 kilometres on his scooter before dumping it into a garbage truck parked near a skating rink in Banashankari.

Swift Police Action

The breakthrough in the case came from CCTV footage that captured the suspect travelling with a large sack on his scooter. Police used the scooter’s registration number to trace Shamsuddin’s residence.

Mobile phone records further confirmed frequent communication between the couple, and he was arrested from his home in Hulimavu within hours of the discovery of the body.

Troubled Relationship And Deception

Police revealed that Shamsuddin is married and has two children in Assam, a fact he had concealed from Asha.

The live-in relationship was reportedly strained, with frequent arguments and mutual mistrust.

Investigators found that on the night of the murder, Shamsuddin was heavily intoxicated and flew into a rage after confronting Asha about her behaviour.

Forensic analysis of the body is ongoing to determine whether there are any signs of sexual assault or additional injuries.

Ongoing Investigation

Shamsuddin is currently in custody and facing charges of murder and destruction of evidence.

Bengaluru police are also coordinating with authorities in Assam as part of the investigation. Forensic reports and digital evidence will further clarify the timeline and circumstances of the crime.

The brutal nature of the incident and the method of body disposal have left the local community shaken. The police’s prompt response and effective use of technology in solving the case have been widely acknowledged.
