Nomination for Screengobblr Awards 2021 have been announced and Assam's Boloram Das has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor (Male) for his movie Welcome Home.

"Here are our nominations for the Best Supporting Actor (Male) for movies released in 2020, either in theatres or on OTT platforms. Do share your thoughts in the comments," the official Facebook page of Screengobblr stated sharing a photo of the nominees.

Screengobblr is a popular blog, maintained by a couple of movie fanatics who believe that a good movie can be great therapy.

The main intention of the blog is to find the best movies of the year and critically analyse them and also predict their potential for the impending Annual Academy awards.

Apart from Das, the other actors in the list of nominees include Pankaj Tripathi for Gunjan Saxena, Sharad Kelkar for Tanhaji, Ranvir Shorey for Lootcase, Jassi Gil for Panga and Abhishek Bachchan for Ludo.

Released on Sony Liv, Boloram Das essay the character of Bhola in the movie Welcome Home.

"I am privileged to be named alongside such popular and actors with an immense fan following," said Boloram Das interacting with The Story Mug.

"Screengobblr is a widely followed blog and it has a huge reader-base. It is not like any other popular award show with much fanfare. But their recognition is at par with any popular award functions," he further says.

Speaking about his character Bhola from Welcome Home, Das says, "I wasn't the first choice for Bhola and some other actor had already shot for two days. It was only after he met with an accident that I replaced him."

"My wife, Tina was already acting in the movie along with Kashmira Irani- who is a good friend of mine. When both of them recommended me for the role, one day I got a call from the director," he informed.

"He asked me if I was free and was willing to do the role. I had already heard about Bhola from Tina and when the role came to me, I did not want the opportunity to let go," he continued.

"But that time I was shooting for Shubhash Kapoor's Madam Chief Minister. I adjusted the dates and went ahead with the shoot," he said.

"It is very rare that an actor gets the chance to essay such a psychopathic character. Moreover, I love to explore the dark side of a character- which is completely opposite to me," he added.

"The first two days I went for the shoot without preparation and for this, I had to struggle a lot. So I took a break, studied the character and then when back for the shoot, I was in the groove."

"But when I did the intimate and emotionally challenging scenes, I was completely shaken and I was in a completely different world. I can't even imagine myself being such a cruel person in real and I have never come across a disturbed family shown in the movie. I was moved by it. But my co-actors, my wife, the director, the writer and every other member on the set were way too cooperative and this made things easy for me. This made the shooting easy," he added.

Apart from Madam Chief Minister, which is a political thriller, Boloram Das will also be seen next in an Assamese movie directed by Monjul Baruah.

Even though they had shot for an English film Interconnect, but Welcome Home happens to be Boloram Das' first movie where he was seen alongside his wife Tina Bhatia- though not as a pair.

"The OTT platforms have given a platform to actors like us to showcase our talent and come closer to the masses. I thank these platforms," Das concluded while sharing his thoughts about OTTs.
