Results of the election will be declared on April 8.

Several former National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) leaders will also be contesting the polls this time.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be contesting the BTC election on its own and it has broken its alliance with the ruling Bodoland People's Front (BPF).

The BTC, which headquartered in Kokrajhar, has 40 seats and the BJP currently has only one member in the council.

Sporadic incidents have also been reported from some parts of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) areas.

Use of guns and muscle power have also been reported in some areas.

Hagrama Mohilary is the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the BTC government and the government comprises twelve other executive members.

Hagrama Mohilary has been the BTC chief since its inception in 2003.

He won the third General Assembly Elections 2015 and formed his government for the third time.

Of recent, he was on the spot of controversy when the news was doing rounds that non-tribals living under BTC will have no land purchase rights within the region.

However, it was later clarified that no new legislation is being formulated and whatever the law existed at the time of BTC accord will remain unchanged.
