In a heartwarming story of resilience and empowerment, 65-year-old Shabana- a trans woman who was once homeless and destitute, has transformed her life and become a beacon of hope for many. Her journey from the streets to a position of strength is nothing short of inspiring.
Two decades ago, Shabana adopted Bibi Fatima, a young girl who would grow up to become a professional kickboxer.
Despite facing numerous personal challenges, Shabana ensured that Fatima never lacked anything essential. She instilled in her daughter the values of dignity and perseverance, encouraging her to chase her dreams.
Fatima’s passion for kickboxing ignited at the age of 12. Determined to pursue her interest, she used her saved coins to enroll in a local kickboxing academy.
With her mother’s unwavering support, Fatima quickly advanced in the sport, earning medals at district, state, and national levels. To date, she has won 23 medals, including a prestigious gold at the Karnataka State Championship.
Today, Shabana watches with pride as her daughter competes in major tournaments.
"Fatima is not just my daughter; she is my pride, my legacy," Shabana proudly states.
Fatima attributes her success to her mother’s love and dedication.
"Ammu is my strength. I want to reach even greater heights and make her proud," she says.
With her transwoman mother’s blessings and steadfast support, Fatima is now preparing for upcoming international competitions, aiming to bring honor to both her mother and the nation.
