People in different age groups across the world bid adieu to 2021 and welcomed 2022 amid fun and frolic, despite the threat of COVID-19 and the new variants emerging almost daily across the globe.
At the stroke of the midnight hour, people cheered and burst crackers and greeted one another. The celebrations in most places went on till the wee hours of January 1, 2022, morning. Groups of youth roamed around in several cities on motorcycles, wishing all those they came across a Happy New Year.
People hosted New Year parties at their houses and estates. Hotels added flavour to the celebrations by organising programmes to suit the needs of different classes of people. The events organised by hotels witnessed large turnouts. Mesmerising dance and music programmes and delicious food added colour to the programmes.
The celebration that began on December 31, 2021, continued into the new year with several recreational activities and festivals being organised in several places.
Keeping up with the spirit of the new year, a musical night, "Gaule Night," was organised at Hawaipur in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam on January 1, 2022.
At this first-of-its-kind festival in Hawaipur, the organisers left no stone unturned to make the Hawaipurians tap their feet.
Gauley Night featured artists like Razat Tamang, Surekha Chetri, and Vishakha Chetry. They captivated music lovers like never before. The variety of artists who had mastered their respective genres enthralled their subset of fans.
People from various regional pockets of both districts, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao, flocked to the event area in Hawaipur, transforming the entire Hawaipur area into a frenzy of jubilation and celebration.
Gauley Night was organised by Castras, backed by The Mileage and MKR Events.
Moreover, the organisers also promoted the Nuldingkut Festival, which will take place in Thuruk, the coldest place in Assam, on January 10 and January 11, 2022.
The prime objective behind musical night is to promote and develop tourism prospects.
