The family of the Kolkata rape and murder victim joined the ongoing protests at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on September 4, 2024, and they accused the Kolkata Police of attempting to cover up the case by hastily cremating the doctor’s body.
The parents of the deceased, whose body was found at the state-run hospital on August 9, 2024, demanded justice and claimed that a senior police officer tried to bribe them after the incident was reported.
"From the outset, the police tried to suppress the case. We were not allowed to see the body and had to wait at the police station while it was taken for post-mortem. Later, when the body was handed over to us, a senior officer offered us money, which we refused," said the victim's father, The Tribune reported.
