World's tallest railway bridge will be developed as one of the major tourist attractions of Manipur.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed this on Friday.
The construction of the 141-metre tall railway bridge is currently going on in Noney district over Ijai River.
"A world-class tourist facility would be developed at Noney to attract tourists from across the world," Singh said.
"The Manipur government will also spend Rs 30 crore for developing tourist facility in the 60 Assembly constituencies of the state," Singh further said.
"Helicopter services would also be expanded," the Manipur CM further added.
" This will help tourists to visit the scenic hills and other places of attractions of Manipur," he further said.
Manipur is a state with picturesque scenic locations, which has been adversely hit by decades of militancy problems.
The tourism industry in the state can help to mitigate the unemployment problem.
"The militancy problems have decreased in the last few years," N Biren informed.

"And this has helped in boosting the inflow of foreign tourists," he added.
"The number of foreign tourists visiting Manipur has increased to 1000 in 2018-19 from 500 in 2014-15," Singh added.
The bridge over Ijai River is constructed by the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) near Noney.
It is a part of the 111-km Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal new broad gauge railway project.
With a height of 141-metre, it will exceed the current record of 139-metre of Mala-Rijeka Viaduct near Montenegro in Europe.
Once completed the bridge will thus become the world's tallest railway bridge.
The construction of this 703-metre long bridge began in 2014.
The alignment of the railway line will pass through the Patkai region in the eastern Himalayan trail.
