Man arrested in Assam for Animal Sexual Abuse

Morigaon Man Arrested After Shocking Video Of Animal Sexual Abuse Goes Viral

May 6, 2025

In a deeply disturbing incident that has outraged animal lovers and citizens across Assam, a man from Morigaon has been arrested after a video surfaced showing him sexually assaulting a female Labrador dog.

The video, which went viral on the Facebook page Rescue and Pets Guwahati on the night of May 4, 2025, was reportedly captured using a hidden camera.

It shows the accused, identified as Narayan Das, deliberately removing a male dog from a room, luring a female Labrador inside, and proceeding to assault the animal in a repeated and calculated manner.

The dog can be seen crying and attempting to escape, but the man continues his horrific actions unabated.

Activists claim this abuse has been occurring for nearly a year, though this is the first time video evidence has emerged.

Das, a local businessman who owns a restaurant, bar, and wine shop in the Morigaon area, is said to have a history of violent and abusive behaviour — including allegations of sexual assault and trafficking.

However, he has managed to evade legal consequences until now.

In response to the viral video, multiple NGOs and rescuers sprang into action. Among them were Purrpaws Foundation (led by Nandini Baruah), Aloo Foundation (Rojaskiya Ranjeet), and Anaajoree Foundation (Milin Dutta and Debanjan Mukherjee of Animal Crime Control).

These organisations filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Morigaon Police Station and alerted Assam Director General of Police Harmeet Singh, who in turn directed the Superintendent of Police to take immediate steps.

Police acted swiftly — the FIR was accepted upon the teams' arrival, and Das was taken into custody the same day.

Rescuers then visited the accused’s residence, where they found two Labradors and one local dog, all of whom were immediately rescued and sent for medical evaluation. The health reports are awaited.

In a further disturbing revelation, Das’s son informed rescuers that his father had a long history of domestic violence — not just against animals, but also against women, including his wife and children.

The son provided videos as evidence, stating that the family was forced to relocate to Guwahati due to the man's violent nature.

“This is not just a case of animal cruelty — it is part of a much wider pattern of abuse,” said one activist.

“This time, justice must be served. Not just for the animals, but for every victim,” the activist added.

The organisations involved have appealed to the people of Assam — especially those in Nagaon and Morigaon — to come forward with any past complaints or evidence against Das.

They urge the public to stand united: “Let us raise our voices for those who cannot speak. Let us ensure this cruelty is never repeated.”

Police investigations are ongoing.
