Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Hunar Haat in New Delhi on Wednesday and interacted with several artisans and craftsmen.

He visited the stalls of master artisans, craftsmen and culinary experts from across the country participating in Hunar Haat.

Over 250 such stalls have been set up at India Gate lawns where over 50 per cent of the artisans participating are women.

PM Narendra Modi interacted with the participating artisans at the Haat and also witnessed the cultural programs.

He visited the Hunar Haat soon after chairing a meeting of the Union Cabinet.

Hunar Haat is being organised by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

Hunar Haat reflects the government's commitment to providing employment opportunities as well as preserving and promoting India’s indigenous traditional legacy, several of which are on the verge of extinction.

The theme of this year’s Hunar Haat is ‘Kaushal ko Kaam’.

About 3 lakh master artisans, craftsmen & culinary experts have been provided employment and employment opportunities through Hunar Haat in the last 3 years.

These beneficiaries include a large number of women artisans.

Narendra Modi spent over 50 minutes there and ate 'litti-chokha', a dough ball made of whole wheat flour and stuffed with 'sattu', and paid Rs 120 for it.

The dish is popular in Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.

He later had tea served in 'kulhad' with Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and paid ?40 for two cups.
