Northeast India’s first-ever tabletop pet calendar was launched on January 9, 2021, in a low-key function held at 16 Hillside, Hatigarh Chariali in Guwahati.

A total of 12 dogs were selected from around 150 dogs that participated at the Northeast’s first-ever pet photography contest, which was organised online by Kute Pets- a multistore veterinary clinic and pet shop situated in Guwahati with two branches.

“Kute Pets took this initiative intending to boost pet photography in the northeast. The competition was held via Facebook keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic situation,” informed JP Nath- proprietor of Kute Pets.

“The 12 winners were selected based on the number of likes, comments and shares each photograph received,” Nath further added.

“This is the first time that a pet calendar has will be brought out in Northeast. The entire team is feeling excited about the launch. We hope to continue this in the future as well,” he added.

Nath further informed that a mobile app of Kute Pets will be launched soon and its first look will be unveiled after the launch of the pet calendar.

The calendar launch ceremony was attended by Editor-in-Chief of Pratidin Time Nitumoni Saikia, along with national award-winning musician Tarali Sharma, noted actor Barsha Rani Bishaya, and MD of Nemcare Hospital Dr Hitesh Baruah.

The eminent guests lauded the efforts of Kute Pets in launching a pet calendar.

It may be mentioned here that a photoshoot of the selected dogs was done on December 23, 2020, at Geetamandir hilltop by ace photographer Anup Baruah and his team.

Baruah said he was thrilled to be a part of the entire process and expressed his happiness for organising the competition and the shoot.

“Pet photography is popular in several countries, It is for the first time that such a competition has been held here in Northeast. Shooting they dogs is challenging but I have loved it,” he said.

Towards the latter part of the evening, a small cultural programme was also organised, which had performances from Pratyusha Hazarika, Birjis Salim, and Kumudini Saraswati.
