Kute Pets, a Guwahati-based pet-food and supplements store has initiated a pet photography contest for all the pet lovers from across the northeast region.

Titled as Kute Pets Photography Award 2020, the contest is open for every pet owner of the northeast region, however, the organisers have decided to keep the contest confined only to dogs in its debut year.

"Initially, we had plans to include each pet but later we realised that including all the pet animals will create a lot of hassles in selecting the winners," said Jyoti Prakash Nath, the proprietor of Kute Pets.

"Since pet photography is still at its nascent stage, not just in Assam or northeast but in the country as a whole, so we came up with this idea to boost this less focussed photography genre," Nath added.

"We have an aim to make this pet photography contest a yearly affair and next year we will try and include more animals in different categories," he further said.

Kute Pets Photography Award is the first-ever pet photography contest organised in the northeast and the top three winners stand a chance to get photographed by a renowned photographer from the northeast.

Those who are willing to take part in the contest can email the photographs of their pet dogs to kutepets@outlook.com and the last date of submission is November 10.

The photographs will be uploaded on the official Facebook page of Kute Pets November 15 and the contest will remain online till November 30 and the winners will be declared on or before December 25

From the total uploaded photographs, 12 winners will be selected and these 12 winners will feature in the Kute Pets official calender for 2021.

"We will require three full-view photographs of the participating dog for an entry to be eligible for the contest," Nath informed.

"The participants will have to share their full postal address along with phone numbers so that we can communicate with them in the future," Nath further said.

Informing about the process of selecting the winners, Nath said, "It is mandatory for the participants to like and follow the Kute Pets' Facebook page. The 12 photographs tat we will select will be based on the number of points accumulated based on the number of likes and shares the photographs get with each like accounting for 1 point and each share 2 points."

"Apart from a proper photoshoot, the top three winners will also receive gift hampers of worth Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 and the remaining nine winners will receive gift hampers worth Rs 2000 to Rs 3000," Nath further said while speaking about the prizes.

Drools (Well Fed Well Bred), a popular dog food company, has stepped in as the title sponsors and Corise (In Support of Wellbeing) as the associate sponsors, the pet Kute Pets' pet photography contest is all set to be an exciting one.
