‘Papa, Bahut Enjoy Kiya…’: Delhi Man’s Last Chat With Son
A brief message exchanged between a father and his son moments before a fatal accident has brought into focus the final hours of two cousins killed in a road crash on Ashoka Road in central Delhi.
According to police, the victims — identified as Yagya Bhatia (20), a BSc student, and his 14-year-old cousin Abhav Bhatia — were returning home after watching an IPL match late on Monday night when the incident took place.
Shortly before the crash, one of the boys had messaged his father saying he had “enjoyed a lot”, marking what would be their last communication.
Police said they received a PCR call around 11 pm about an accident near the Mahadev Road T-point on Ashoka Road, close to Parliament Street. When officers reached the spot, they found both victims lying unconscious on the road. They were taken to the hospital, where they were declared dead.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the motorcycle the cousins were riding was hit by a goods vehicle, with indications pointing towards a suspected hit-and-run. Police have identified the vehicle involved and are examining CCTV footage from the area to trace the driver.
The deaths have added to concerns over road safety in the national capital, particularly in central areas where late-night traffic involving heavy vehicles remains common.
