Ranjan Gogoi Gets Z+ Security, Twitterati Evoke Mixed Responses

Former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi on January 22, 2021, was accorded with Z+ security by the Centre.

From now on, a member of 8-12 elite armed commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) instead of the personnel from the Delhi police.

The commandos will not only accompany Ranjan Gogoi during his travel across the country, a similar team will also guard his residence.

Ranjan Gogoi, who as the 46th CJI and the first CJI from Northeast, is now a nominated Rajya Sabha member.

Once the news regarding Gogoi's security was tweeted, the Twitter world got divided into many parts- some mocking the former CJI while some questioning those who were found mocking.

Responding to a tweet by news agency ANI, one Twitter user named Rikit Sahai wrote, "Former CJI, Rajya Sabha MP and judge in his own case where he was accused of sexual misconduct, Mr. Ranjan Gogoi gets Z+ security for movement across India. CRPF has been asked to provide him with security. Fixed it."

Countering Sahai a user named Dayanand Kumar wrote, "Who is Rahul Gandhi??? Just a MP and getting Z+ security have you asked why govt is wasting money..."

"Mocking" the Z+ security for the former CJI, a user named Nitish Bharadwaj replying to the ANI tweet wrote, "If Shameless had a face, it would match Ranjan Gogoi face."

This tweet, however, did not go down well and a user named Sujoy Biswas countered it by hurling several questions to Bharadwaj.

"Don't know why you all are commenting derogatory and racist. He was CJI when Land dispute resolves with 5-0 by the bench. He was a member of Rajyashabha by President of India. He is not even a member of BJP still you have a problem with him. He was the man who criticises centre," Biswas tweeted.
