Sivasagar Gears Up For Republic Day Celebration

Along with the rest of the nation and the state, the eastern Assam district of Sivasagar is also preparing to celebrate the ensuing Republic Day with the utmost patriotic fervour.

In this regard, the district administration convened a meeting on January 3, 2022, with Additional Deputy Commissioner Karmadev Brahma in the chair at Sukafa Conference Hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar.

The all-important event witnessed the active participation of leading and senior citizens, heads of various government departments, and officials of both civil and police administrations.

The meeting discussed at length the detailed programme for the ensuing Republic Day, to be celebrated at the historic Boarding Field on January 26, 2022.

As part of the day-long programme, Prabhat Ferry will be organised from 5:00 am to 6:00 am, and this will be followed by the playing of patriotic songs from 6:00 am to 7:00 am through the fixed loudspeaker system of the District Information and Public Relations office.

Residents can hoist the tricolour on their respective premises at 7:00 am, while the National Flag will be unfurled at all government, non-government, and semi-government offices and all educational institutions across the district at 7:30 am. Tributes to the martyrs of the nation’s freedom movement will be paid at Piyoli Phukan Park and Ananada Ram Baruah Park at 8:30 am.

At the same time, students and teachers from educational institutions will take part in processions and congregate at Boarding Field for the central function. The chief guest will unfurl the national flag at 9:00 am at the centrally organised programme and take the salute at the ceremonial parade, which will be followed by a host of cultural programmes.

Notably, a friendly cricket match between Sivasagar district administration XI and Sivasagar Press Club XI teams will be played at 2:00 pm.

Later, at 4:40 pm, the national flag will be brought down customarily.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Ashwini Doley, ADCs Bitupon Neog and Chandana Baruah, SDO (Sadar) Mandira Baruah, Executive Officer of Sivasagar Municipal Board Manali Prasad Rajak, Assistant Commissioner Dipawoli Kurmi, and Election Officer Sugata Siddhartha Goswami, among others.
