Street photography is one of the most popular genres of photography, not just in India or Assam, but across the world and this is mainly because of the wide range of creative angles the genre provides. Here is a collection of street photographs shot by talented photographer Anurag Sharma, one of the winners of Lens Speak: Capture What You See- an online photography competition organised on the occasion of World Photography Day 2022.
Associated initially with Paris, and figures such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Brassaï, and André Kertész, Street Photography became recognized as a genre in its own right during the early 1930s.
This style of photography aims to capture everyday life in public places, particularly in urban landscapes. Usually, it's a form of candid photography, when the person isn't aware they're being photographed, which creates more realistic and powerful images.
Anurag Sharma feels that this genre is not just about creativity, but it is also extremely challenging. He has been trying to master the nuances of street photography for the past several years.
