Following its world premiere at the 22nd Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF), Assamese feature film Taarikh continues its remarkable journey with an official selection at the 23rd Pune International Film Festival (PIFF).
The festival is scheduled from February 13 to February 20, in Pune, India.
PIFF, one of the most prestigious film festivals in India, is renowned for showcasing exceptional cinema.
This selection is a significant achievement for Taarikh and Assamese cinema as a whole, reaffirming the film’s artistic brilliance.
Earlier, Taarikh stood as the sole representative from Assam and the Northeast at the 22nd CIFF.
Produced by Arundhati Sarmah Baruah and Dr Muktismaan Hazarika, Taarikh is the second directorial venture of Himjyoti Talukdar, whose debut film Calendar (2018) earned widespread acclaim.

The film features an impressive cast led by veteran actor Arun Nath, along with Boloram Das, Swagata Bharali, Kula Kuldip, and others.
The music is composed by National Award-winning artist Tarali Sarma, with sound design by fellow National Award winner Debajit Gayan. Cinematography is handled by Aniruddha Barua.

Set against the backdrop of Guwahati, Taarikh tells an intense yet hopeful story of Professor Durlov Dutta, a retired academic grappling with a haunting incident from his past.
Portrayed by Arun Nath, Dutta’s life takes a transformative turn when an unexpected opportunity offers him a chance to overcome his emotional struggles.
This recognition at PIFF solidifies Taarikh as a testament to the growing prominence of Assamese cinema on the global stage.
