A 44-year-old man from Thailand’s Rayong province has died after reportedly surviving on beer alone for nearly a month, following emotional distress linked to a divorce.
The deceased, identified as Thaweesak Namwongsa, was discovered unconscious at his residence by his 16-year-old son, who immediately alerted emergency services.
However, by the time responders arrived on July 16, Namwongsa was already unresponsive, with his hands and feet having turned blue—a possible indication of circulatory failure.
According to local reports cited by the Daily Star, Namwongsa had completely given up food and water, choosing instead to consume only alcohol.
His son revealed that despite repeated attempts to cook for him, Namwongsa consistently refused solid meals, relying solely on beer to sustain himself.
Emergency personnel at the scene found over 100 empty beer bottles neatly arranged around the home.
In a striking detail, a pathway had been cleared among the bottles, allowing Namwongsa to move between his bed and other parts of the room.
It is believed that the man had been experiencing severe emotional strain following his separation from his wife.
In the days leading up to his death, he is said to have suffered convulsions and seizures, suggesting a critical decline in his physical condition.
Authorities are continuing their inquiries, but early indications suggest the man’s deteriorating mental health and self-neglect played a significant role in his death.
