Scorpions’ India Tour Cancelled
Plans for one of the biggest international rock tours in India this year have been abruptly shelved, with German band Scorpions cancelling their multi-city run just days before its opening show, citing health concerns within the group.
The four-city “Coming Home” India Tour, which was scheduled to begin in Shillong on April 21, 2026, has been called off in its entirety.
The announcement was made by the promoter, BookMyShow Live, on Saturday, triggering disappointment among fans who had already begun travelling to the host cities.
According to organisers, the decision follows “unforeseen medical circumstances affecting the band members”, although no further details have been disclosed.
Full Tour Schedule Now Cancelled
The cancelled dates included:
- Shillong – April 21, JN Stadium
- Delhi-NCR – April 24, HUDA Grounds
- Bengaluru – April 26, NICE Grounds
- Mumbai – April 30, Jio Gardens, BKC
The Shillong concert was set to open the India leg, marking the band’s return to a city often described as the country’s rock capital.
The tour was expected to draw large crowds across all four venues, particularly given the band’s long absence from India.
Sudden Halt To A Long-Awaited Return
The cancellation comes after months of promotion for what was projected as the band’s first full-scale India tour in nearly two decades.
Their previous visits date back to the early 2000s, including performances in Bengaluru and later shows in Shillong and Mumbai.
Industry observers note that the tour was part of a broader push to bring legacy international rock acts back to India, with cities like Shillong, Mumbai and Bengaluru increasingly positioned as key stops on global touring circuits.
Refunds And Uncertainty Over Rescheduling
BookMyShow Live has confirmed that all ticket holders will receive automatic refunds within seven to ten working days, with the amount credited to the original payment method.
There is, however, no clarity on whether the shows will be rescheduled. The band has indicated a willingness to return “when possible”, but no revised dates have been announced so far.
Fans Caught Off Guard
The timing of the announcement has drawn attention, with some attendees already in Shillong or en route to the venues when the cancellation was announced.
Social media posts reflected a mix of concern for the band’s health and frustration over the last-minute disruption.
For many younger fans, the tour was seen as a rare opportunity to see the group live for the first time, while older audiences viewed it as a nostalgic return by a band that had helped shape India’s rock scene in earlier decades.
A Setback For India’s Live Music Circuit
The cancellation is also seen as a setback for India’s growing live concert market, which has recently attracted major international acts and investment.
Industry insiders say such last-minute disruptions could affect planning and consumer confidence, especially for high-cost, large-scale events.
For now, the focus remains on whether the band will be able to recover and revisit its India plans — and whether the halted tour will eventually find a place on the global calendar again.
