Pahalgam Terror Attack Survivor Names Son ‘Pahal’ An Same Day As 2025 Terror Tragedy
Vivek Agarwal, a survivor of last year’s deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, has named his newborn son ‘Pahal’, marking what he described as a symbol of new beginnings on the same date as the tragedy that claimed 26 lives.
The child was born on April 22, 2026, the first anniversary of the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, in which terrorists opened fire on tourists at the Baisaran meadow, killing 26 people and injuring several others.
According to the media reports, the father, who survived the attack, said the name ‘Pahal’ (meaning ‘a beginning’) reflects both remembrance and hope.
The birth coinciding with the anniversary of the attack was described by the family as deeply emotional, linking loss with renewal.
The Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, was one of the deadliest assaults on civilians in the region in recent years.
Armed militants targeted tourists in a popular meadow near the hill resort town, triggering nationwide outrage and a major security response.
In the aftermath, survivors and families of victims have continued to grapple with trauma while seeking justice and support.
Many have marked the anniversary with remembrance events, charity, and personal tributes to those killed.
The survivor’s decision to name his son after ‘a new beginning’ comes amid broader efforts to commemorate the victims and rebuild confidence in the region, where authorities have since increased security and initiated memorials in honour of those who died.
Officials said investigations into the attack and its wider network remain ongoing, even as the anniversary has renewed focus on both the human cost of the incident and the resilience of those affected.
