Arjun Tendulkar Eligible To Feature In IPL Auction

January 30, 2021

Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar has now become eligible to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction pool for 2021 season.

Arjun Tendulkar became eligible for the auction after he represented the Mumbai senior team in the latest edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

Even though he had played U-19 cricket for India in 2018, however, Arjun had to wait for two more years to penetrate into the Indian domestic circuit.

Arjun Tendulkar is an all-rounder who bats and bowls left-handed and is known for his fast deliveries.

He has kept himself busy by playing club cricket in England since 2018.

Tendulkar debuted for Mumbai in SMAT20 in their third league match against Haryana, played at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

It was a satisfactory debut for the southpaw as he bowled in the powerplay and got the wicket of Chaitanya Bishnoi, but later, he went on to concede 34 runs from his three overs.

Mumbai lost the match by eight wickets as Haryana chased down the target of 144 with 14 balls to spare.

Arjun Tendulkar was a part of the Mumbai Indians at the 2020 IPL as he was picked up by the franchise as one of their net bowlers.

The young bowler has been honing his skills under the watchful eyes of MI's bowling coach Shane Bond and Director of Cricket Zaheer Khan.

It is expected that Mumbai Indians might buy the 21-year-old all-rounder at the auction, which is slated in the second week of February.

However, given the quality of players the defending champions have, it will be a tough road ahead for the young all-rounder to feature in the playing XI.

The 2020 edition of the cash-rich cricket tournament took place in UAE owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

IPL 2021 will begin on April 11 as defending champions Mumbai Indians will play against last year's runners up Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
