A Promised Land- the first volume of the memoir written by former US President Barack Obama will release on November 17, two weeks after Election Day.

The book will cover Obama's swift and historic rise to the White House and his first term in office.

In a statement issued to the media on Thursday Barack Obama said, "I have spent the last few years reflecting on my presidency."

"In A Promised Land I have tried to provide an honest accounting of my presidential campaign and my time in office," he further said.

The book will also cover the key events and people who shaped Obama's presidential campaigns and his rise as the President.

It will also focus on Obama's take as to what he got right and the mistakes he made.

It will also focus on the political, economic, and cultural forces that he and his team had to confront then.

Adding further Barack Obama said, "In the book, I have also tried to give readers a sense of the personal journey that Michelle and I went through during those years, with all the incredible highs and lows."

"And finally, at a time when America is going through such enormous upheaval, the book offers some of my broader thoughts on how we can heal the divisions in our country going forward and make our democracy work for everybody- a task that won't depend on any single president, but on all of us as engaged citizens," the statement added.

Obama's book, like his previous ones, will be released by Crown and it will have a total of 786 pages.

It may be mentioned here that Barack Obama has been called the most literary US President since Abraham Lincoln.

Barack Obama has already written two highly praised, million-selling books- Dreams from My Father and The Audacity of Hope.
