Dreams Have Meanings...So Says The Internet!

January 23, 2021

In the last couple of months, or maybe even more, I am having a troubled sleep as it is disturbed by dreams- some leaving me gasping for breath.

And as I sit awake, huffing and puffing, the sleep never returns and I am denied of a proper night's sleep.

I don't remember most of the dreams, except for a few.

Do dreams mean anything? Do dreams symbolise something from the future? These questions keep banging my consciousness repeatedly.

To understand and know if dreams have any meaning, I Googled and to my surprise, it did not bring forth a rosy picture.

Here are a few of the dreams that I remember from the last 15 nights and their meanings.

Dreams Of Being Chased By Elephant

A couple of nights back I dreamt of being chased by an elephant. The elephant in the question was friendly initially and I could talk to him as well. However, something went wrong and one day he hit the wall of the room I was sitting and the room collapsed.

I was unable to understand its behaviour. Without thinking much, I apologised to the elephant if I had hurt it in some way.

The next thing I saw was that I was walking on a village street with a friend of mine when I saw three elephants coming from the opposite direction. Being attacked once by a known elephant, I did not want to encounter the unknown ones and hence I decided to make a U-turn. And as I turned back, I saw the same old "friendly" elephant charging towards me.

Without wasting a second I ran for my life. But the elephant caught me and the moment it was about to attack me, I woke up, panting and sweating in a cold January morning.

And when I googled, I was in a state of shock to know the meaning of this dream

According to an article by timesnownews.com, elephants chasing in dreams means the following-

When you dream about being chased by an elephant, it means that you are running away from responsibilities, you think you cannot handle. For instance, you may have been delegated a task that is beyond your capacity. Therefore, you feel like running away. It could also mean that you may have invited unnecessary trouble by asking for something that demands tremendous accountably, in a bid to impress your boss or someone else. And when you realise that it is not your cup of tea, you feel overburdened.

As an elephant is a brainy animal and if you dream being chased by it, then it may mean that you fear getting outshined by someone smarter than you. Someone from your office, or any other place who is associated with you as you both are in the same field of work. The dream suggests that a person's presence makes you feel insecure. Even in your personal space, you may feel vulnerable if your would-be comes across a smarter person than you.

We all feel intimidated by someone or the other in life, but has this intimidation reached to a point beyond the saturation point that subconsciously I am feeling so vulnerable that I am willing to run away from everything I need to do?

Dreams Of Poop/Feces

It was day-before-yesterday when I dreamt of getting into a toilet in one of my relative's house. It had three Indian style toilet sits with one of them having poop leftover while the others were clean and white.

Then I saw myself pooping out to my heart's content. However, the problem arose then when I was unable to flush the dump?

As I continued to struggle my alarm clock buzzed and I found myself on my bed.

When I googled, ayntyflow.com showed me the following interpretation-

When one dreams of poop, this is symbolic of a situation which has become rife with stress. To dream of having a poop, you may find yourself in a situation that is either disgusting or filthy and you cannot find a way out. Dreaming of poop is a common dream, especially to pooping in public.

The scariest of this interpretation was the line that said you may find yourself in a situation that is either disgusting or filthy and you cannot find a way out.

What could this possibly mean and how am I going to deal with it- that's something I am still trying to figure out.

Upon researching further I found several more interpretation of poop-related dreams.

According to dreamastromeaning.com, poop-related dreams suggest you will soon hear good news or experience something positive. It is usually something related to finances; you will get a promotion, a bonus on your salary, an unexpected heritage, a reward, you will win a lottery or whatsoever. The most common interpretation of a dream in which you are seeing poop suggests your work will pay off. You will get more than you have expected because you worked hard and you did not overestimate yourself and what you were doing. The dream symbolizes a fairly deserved reward.

Now that's interesting!

About Moving Downhill

This is a common dream and very often I see myself coming downhill at an uncontrollable pace- sometimes on foot while at times on a two-wheeler.

I see this even at times when I close my eyes even for a split second.

The Huffington Post has done an extensive series of dreams and interested people can visit the site and read the detailed meaning of dreams about moving downhill.

The other explanations are also more or less similar to what THP has written in its explanation on dreams about moving downhill.

According to dreams.metroeve.com, to dream about falling downhill had the following meaning-

To dream of moving downhill represents a sense of ease with an obstacle or feel that you are moving away from a problem. Life may feel like it’s getting easier. Moving downhill too fast may reflect an improvement that is happening too quick to respond to. Something is good is happening too fast.

Apart from the above dreams, in the last 15-20 days, I have had several other dreams, like that of snakes, pythons, superhero dreams, murders, dreams about dogs and cats and also about dead people.

Various analysts have come up with different interpretations of these dreams- some analysis I find a perfect fit with me while a few I have ignored.

Minutes before writing this article I spoke to a friend and shared about my weird dreams with her. After giving a patient listening to me, what she said inspired me and gave me an all-new meaning about dreams.

"Dreams are the calligraphic interpretation of events from your daily life and events from your life you have always imagined to be. These are the thoughts that are deep-rooted in your sub-conscious. They are metaphors and may not exactly mean what has been interpreted. Control your thoughts when you are awake and the results of your dreams will change drastically," she said.

"Try to decode dreams and make life better by learning from them, by learning about them" she added.
