Foundation Stone Laid Earlier By Home Minister Amit Shah
Earlier this year, in the month of May, Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the Guwahati campus of the National Forensic Sciences University in Assam.
During his address on that occasion, Shah underscored the international significance of this initiative.
The Guwahati campus will be distinguished as the world's 11th and the country's 10th NFSU centre, signifying a pioneering stride in the field of criminal justice not only within Assam but across the entire North-Eastern region of India.
Shah further emphasised that the NFSU campus in Guwahati will obviate the need for students from North Eastern states to relocate to Delhi or other distant urban centres for forensic science studies.
With this establishment, the pursuit of forensic studies will be accessible right within the NFSU Guwahati campus itself.
Implications For Northeast And Eastern Bordering Nations
The NFSU campus in Guwahati holds the promise of transforming not only North-East India but also the neighbouring countries along the eastern border, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, and Indonesia.
The strategic location of the Guwahati campus is poised to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among these nations in the domain of forensic sciences.
Land Allocation And Investment
The state government has demonstrated its commitment to this initiative by allocating a substantial expanse of 50 acres of land for the establishment of the National Forensic Science University in Guwahati.
In addition, the government has earmarked a financial allocation of approximately Rs 500 crore to facilitate the growth and development of the NFSU campus in Guwahati.
These provisions will cater to the educational needs of students pursuing both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in forensic sciences.
The establishment of the NFSU campus in Guwahati emerges as a pivotal chapter in the pursuit of advanced criminal investigation methodologies and the elevation of forensic sciences within the region and beyond.
With its transformative potential, the campus is set to reshape the landscape of criminal justice and investigation in the north-eastern region of India.
